YouTuber Take Us Into The Daily Life Of A Japanese Anime Director

YouTuber @PaolofromTOKYO spent a day with an Anime Director named Shu Honma, who is currently directing an anime called Mayonaka Punch. We also get a tour of the legendary Anime Studio P.A. Works, which created shows like Shirobako, Another, and Angel Beats!
It’s fascinating to see how the different departments interact. I was also very surprised as to how relatively young many of the staff were — Shu being only 34! He keeps up a plucky attitude for the video considering that he gets up at 8:30 am and goes home at 1:30 am. The obscenely long hours are part of a larger issue regarding “crunch culture” within anime production. Still, I commend the company for allowing interested viewers to get a peek into the anime creation process. Mayonaka Punch is currently streaming on Crunchyroll.
