‘West Coast Avengers’ Heats Up With Adam Hughes’ New Variant Cover

by Tony Thornley

Marvel’s West Coast Avengers has one of the funnest casts the publisher has put together in a long time. In the newest variant cover for the debut, the team’s hottest member takes the spotlight.

In a special foil variant by superstar Adam Hughes, Firestar takes center stage. I personally wasn’t a huge fan of Angelica Jones’ Krakoa era costume, which is carrying over into this series. Hughes really made it pop here though, and it definitely shows he hasn’t missed a beat.

The series comes from Gerry Duggan & Danny Kim, as Iron Man and War Machine recruits the latest team of Wackos. Firestar and Spider-Woman bring their years of experience to the team. However, the team will also be joined by one of the Avengers’ deadliest foes- Ultron!

“Redemption has been on my mind this year, and we’ll see who can be redeemed on the West Coast,” Duggan teased. “It’s a fun action story, but it’s also an Ultron tale – and one of my biggest Marvel swings yet. I previously had the pleasure of writing a pretty great horror story about Ultron wearing Pym’s face, and this is a very different tale with one of my favorite Marvel characters, in one of my favorite legacy titles in the city that has been my home for so long. Wait until you see what Danny Kim is cooking up. Find redemption in November in the city of Angels.”
