‘Genshin Impact’ Adds Its Sixth Nation With Update 5.0

Once again, miHoYo is on the verge of another massive update for Genshin Impact. This time, they are preparing for version 5.0, entitled “Flowers Resplendent of the Sun-Scorched Sojourn.”  It’s quite the mouthful for a title, but it is important, as it seeks to add the nation of Natlan, the sixth nation of Teyvat.

With the addition of Natlan comes three new characters:

— Mualani, a five-star Hydro Catalyst user, who relies on surfing to both explore and deal damage.

— Kinich, a five-star Dendro Claymore user, who and explore and attack with a special grappling hook.

— Kachina, a four-star Geo Polearm User, who players can attain for free by completing the first act of Natlan’s Archon Quest.

Version 5.0 will be adding a number of changes and benefits for players coming in, including the ability to invite a permanent five-star character to a player’s party for free. Logging in will also grant players 1600 Primogems, a Sanctifying Elixir, and a handful of other gadgets.

Perhaps most interesting, though, is that for the first time, players will be able to jump straight into the Natlan map for exploration if they’ve completed all the Mondstadt Archon Quests and have hit Adventure Rank 19. They’ll also be able to start Natlan’s Archon Quests if they’ve beaten Liyue’s Archon Quests and have reached Adventure Rank 28.

There are more changes to be found in the full two hour Genshin Impact Special Program. As the title goes from the “new” game to a well-established project, sweeping changes like this become less surprising. To keep players invested in new content, they’ll need to find ways to make it easy for people to jump in, and give them enough resources so that they feel they aren’t perpetually behind.
