Woo-Hoo! ‘DuckTales’ Sets Off For A New Adventure At Dynamite

Get ready for the theme song to load into your brain: DuckTales (whoo-hoo!) is coming back to comics courtesy of Dynamite.

The company announced Thursday that the title is on its way from writer Brandon Montclare and artist Tommaso Ronda. The new series sees Huey, Dewey, and Louie realizing “Unca” Scrooge isn’t just fabulously wealthy in terms of his bank accounts, but his wild life is rich in stories. There’s the tale of his Number One Dime and the way way he made his first million in the Klondike. Then there’s also the various time he has stopped Magica De Spell from stealing the dime, and so many more. The nephews are finally enraptured by the wealth of wisdom and stories he has to offer.

Presumably, Scrooge is also discovering a new sort of value in sharing his past with the boys. But will an adventure be in the making for all four of them?

Taking their cues from the original Disney Afternoon DuckTales animated series, the title is supported by a number of variant covers from Ivan Bigarella, Francesco Tomaselli, Carlo Lauro, and Alan Quah, with a fifth “classic character” cover presenting Scrooge McDuck in his late-1980s glory. Considering Dynamite’s other Disney Afternoon-related books hearken back to that era of syndicated Disney animation, it makes sense this book would look and feel more like that than the more recent DuckTales series, which leaned heavily into the look of Carl Banks‘ Uncle Scrooge comics.
