Shout! And Jim Henson Company Releasing ‘Labyrinth’ And ‘Dark Crystal’ Limited Edition 4K Collector’s Sets

Shout! Studios and the Jim Henson Company are partnering for the release of two limited edition collector’s sets of Henson’s most enduring 1980s cult films: Labyrinth, and The Dark Crystal.
Labyrinth (1986) stars Jennifer Connelly as a teen who attempts to save her kidnapped baby brother by entering a strange world full of dark Henson creations, including a spectacularly mulleted David Bowie. The new collector’s set includes 4K UHD and Blu-ray copies of the film, a glass replica of the crystal ball with 3D etchings, art cards, a 28-page book with a new essay, and concept art by Brian Froud. Special features are a mix of old and new, including a new Q&As with Brian Henson and Toby Froud, audio with Brian Froud, featurettes, deleted and alternate scenes, and more.
1982’s The Dark Crystal is a sort of fantasy take on The Muppets, following two Gelflings (Stephen Garlick and Lisa Maxwell) on a mission to repair a broken magic crystal and overthrow the evil Skeksis who rule the land with an iron fist. It features some truly amazing — and genuinely creepy — puppeteering work by Henson, Kathryn Mullen, and Frank Oz. The new box set includes 4K UHD and Blu-ray copies of the film, a glass replica of the film’s mystical shard, five art cards, a 28-page book with new written material, production stills, concept art, stickers, and more.
Special features include a new Q&A with Lisa Henson, another commentary with Brian Froud, making-of documentaries, deleted scenes, and more.
Additionally, each film will also get a limited edition steelbook (4K UHD + Blu-ray) release exclusively at Walmart. Every version will be available November 19th.
