‘Ripple Effects: The Deluxe Edition’ Hits 80% Of Its Funding Goal On First Day

Jordan Hart‘s graphic medicine series Ripple Effects follows the adventures of a superhero whose invincibility is offset by an acute case of type 1 diabetes that must be monitored and treated daily. Nominated for several of the biggest awards in comics, the gripping and inspirational story about living with an invisible illness is inspired by Hart’s own lived experience with thrombophilia, an incurable blood-clotting disease. 

For its very first Kickstarter campaign, Fanbase Press launched a deluxe hardcover edition of the book yesterday. This new edition features contributions from some of the biggest names in comics and pop culture, including forewords by writer Gail Simone and actor/writer Todd Stashwick.

Hart says of the book

Ripple Effects was created to remind those with invisible disabilities, and their loved ones, that they are not alone, that they’re unique, and that they’re special.

Ripple Effects isn’t just a story about a character with an incurable disease. It’s also a thrilling and relevant superhero tale that touches on the difficulty of finding a work/life balance, the class struggles and economic inequality experienced by many in our nation, and the desire to help others during trying times.

Ripple Effects was created, written, and colored by Jordan Hart, illustrated by Bruno Chiroleu, flatted by Shane Kadlecik, lettered by Oceano Ransford, and features cover art by Justin C. Harder and a foreword by Matthew Noe.

Backer rewards kick in at the $15 reward tier for a PDF of the book. Deluxe hardcovers pop in at the $35 level ($33 if you get on your horse and grab one of those Early Bird specials). Signed covers, remarques, and bundles are available at various other tiers, and there are several opportunities for backers to pay it forward with copies donated to libraries and schools.
