Koei-Tecmo Shows Off An Overview For ‘Fairy Tail 2’
by Sage Ashford
Developer Gust is gearing up to release Fairy Tail 2, which looks to finish the main Fairy Tail storyline. With that in mind, they’ve released a “Game System Overview” trailer to explain some of the changes for the new game.
To account for Fairy Tail fighting the massive Alvarez Empire army, they’ve added real-time elements, including the ability to wipe out waves of enemies with special moves. Other anime-specific mechanics have been included as well, including Unison Raid attacks, which take advantage of two characters working together to create a new spell. The trailer also talks about the game’s “Character Stories”, special side quests that expand on members of the guild, and a completely original arc, “Key to the Unknown”, that takes place after the main storyline.
The original Fairy Tail game was more of a basic JRPG that didn’t elevate the source material or try to blend it with the video game world well at all. Comparatively, this looks to be elevating on everything that worked about the first game to create a more cohesive experience.
Fairy Tail 2 launches December 13th for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and Steam.
