DreamWorks Animation’s ‘The Wild Robot’ Shifting Gears To Digital, 4K UHD, And Blu-ray Platforms

One of the most acclaimed studio films of the year — animated or otherwise — is making a fast move from movie theaters to home theaters.
After opening in theaters less than a month ago to big box office numbers, DreamWorks Animation’s The Wild Robot can now be rented or purchased from various digital platforms, and will make its way to 4K UHD and Blu-ray on December 3rd.
Adapted from Peter Brown’s bestseller, The Wild Robot stars the voice of Oscar winner Lupita Nyong’o (12 Years a Slave) as a robot named Roz, who is shipwrecked on a strange, seemingly hostile, deserted island. Roz soon befriends the animals on the island, including a sly fox (Mandalorian star Pedro Pascal) and an orphaned gosling (Kit Connor), and together they learn depend on one another to survive and thrive.
Directed by Chris Sanders (Lilo & Stitch, The Croods), The Wild Robot also stars Bill Nighy, Stephanie Hsu, Matt Berry, Ving Rhames, Mark Hamill, and Catherine O’Hara.
Special features include an alternate opening, behind-the-scenes footage of the stars recording their voice roles, how to draw tutorials, featurettes, trailers, and more.
The Wild Robot is now available to rent or buy on digital, and on 4K Ultra HD and Blu-Ray from Universal Pictures Home Entertainment on December 3rd.
