NYCC 2024: Bob Layton Contributes Special Variant Cover For ‘The Terminator’ #2

The war against the machines rages on across time and a legendary comics artist is on hand to depict part of the latest battle.

Dynamite announced Tuesday the addition of Bob Layton to the roster of artists providing covers for The Terminator #2. Layton’s contribution is offered as a “Final Order Cutoff” exclusive variant.

Starting his career as an apprentice for Wally Wood, Layton was soon an in-demand inker before taking on full art duties across a wide variety of titles like his signature runs on Iron Man and his work on Metallix. That interest in men and machines is on display in his cover and a perfect tie-in for The Terminator (see below).

Inside issue #2, writer Declan Shalvey and artist Luke Sparrow move the action to 1975 Saigon. The US is in retreat, but a new enemy is making operations that much harder. Called back from his final leave while in the country, Private Duggan faces this implacable combatant, a “one man platoon” that is seemingly bulletproof, impervious to grenades, and simply will not stop until all the soldiers are dead. But what is the Terminator’s purpose in this time zone and is Duggan somehow tied to the fate of the Resistance?

The Terminator #2 lands in stores on November 13. Final order cutoff for the issue is on October 23rd.
