Live From Your House! It’s Jason Reitman’s ‘SNL’ Tribute ‘Saturday Night’ On Blu-ray And DVD

After a brief detour to theaters, NBC’s Saturday Night is heading back to your living room.
Directed by Jason Reitman (Juno), Saturday Night chronicles the behind-the-scenes shenanigans of the 1975 series premiere of NBC’s long-running comedy series Saturday Night Live (at the time the title lacked the “Live” part, although it was most certainly shot live). Lorne Michaels (played by The Fabelmans‘ Gabriel LaBelle) tries to revolutionize late night TV by launching a risky new sketch show while the set falls apart around him, the scripts are finished, his young cast parties and argues, Milton Berle (J.K. Simmons) makes fun of him, and NBC executives (Cooper Hoffman and Willem Dafoe) watch him like a hawk. The cast is loaded with faces both familiar and new, portraying all the legendary comics involved in the series’ first season. Oh, and Succession‘s Nicholas Braun pulls double-duty as both Jim Henson and Andy Kaufman.

Saturday Night will be available on digital on November 12th, and will land on Blu-ray and DVD on January 7th.
