Kickstarting Comics: ‘The Whitechapel Cordon’ Brings Gothic Horror To Your Doorstep
by Tony Thornley
There’s no subgenre of horror quite like gothic horror. With The Whitechapel Cordon the genre also brings one of the masters of the genre back to comics.

Now running on Kickstarter for 7 more days, The Whitechapel Cordon teams comics legend David Hitchcock with rising star of Brit comics Chris Denton and letterer Rob Jones for a frightening locked room mystery.
London’s East End, 1905. An Old Soldier’s Home has been placed behind an impenetrable cordon following a gruesome discovery. Consulting detectives Bernard and Felicity Hiltson are sent inside to investigate. The brother and sister duo swiftly realise that everyone there is trapped in a building where death lies around every corner… and far worse stirs in the attic.
Hitchcock is best known for the seminal steampunk epic Springheeled Jack. Alan Moore described Springheeled Jack as “an ambitious and masterfully executed Victorian fever-dream.” Now Hitchcock is returning to the fog-filled alleys of Edwardian London to bring this new horror mystery to life.
The book is published by new indie publisher Severus Press. They’re a brand new publisher committed to professional-quality independent comics. Even better, this original graphic novel is already completed and fully funded, so it’s a sure thing, barring any printing complications.
