Get A First Look At ‘What If…? Mickey & Friends Became The Fantastic Four’ #1
by Tony Thornley
Marvel and Disney’s mash-ups have been a big hit since the beginning of 2023. In January, the publisher starts the biggest year for their First Family, with a mash-up with the biggest names in cartoons.

After this year’s Donald Duck/Wolverine, Donald/Thor and Minnie Mouse/Captain Marvel mash-up, it was just a matter of time before Disney’s entire “big four” got in on the action, and what better mash-up than the Fantastic Four? What If…? Mickey & Friends Became The Fantastic Four sees Mickey, Minnie, Donald and Goofy gain the powers of Mr. Fantastic, the Invisible Woman, The Thing and the Human Torch. The quartet is put to the test as the Fantastic Four when Mole Pete attacks Duckburg!
“Steve Behling and Riccardo Secchi have done it again with a wild and funtastic take on Marvel’s First Family!” Editor Mark Paniccia shared. “Seeing the initial cover sketches by Lorenzo Pastrovicchio with Mickey and friends as the Fantastic Four got our appetite whet for the hilarious hijinks to come, and the final product did not disappoint! Goofy lighting a barbecue? Donald made of rocky feathers? Mole Pete in charge of monsters from the abyss? As a huge FF fan myself, I can say this issue did everything possible to tickle my nostalgic funny bone.”
I haven’t read the Donald/Thor or Minnie/Captain Marvel mash-up stories yet. I really enjoyed the Donald/Wolverine crossover as well as Marvel’s Uncle Scrooge one shot from early this year though. From the looks of it, this continues that trend. With the Fantastic Four movie coming next year, it’s the perfect time for it.
Check out the preview pages and main cover by Pastrovicchio above, as well as covers from comics superstars Nick Bradshaw, Skottie Young, Chrissie Zullo and Phil Noto.
Watch for What If…? Mickey & Friends Became The Fantastic Four #1 in January from Marvel Comics!
