‘The Real Ghostbusters: A Visual History’ Slimes Next Summer

Who you gonna call? If the answer is Ghostbusters, you’ll need to wait several months before they pick up.
That’s when The Real Ghostbusters: A Visual History debuts. The full-color art book, from Dark Horse, chronicles the history of the 1986 animated series. The Saturday morning cartoon, a spin-off of the original film, spurred a toy launch from Kenner resulting in some of the best-selling toys in popular culture.
The new book, written by Troy Benjamin and Craig Goldberg, gives fans a look at some rare and never-before-seen visuals, including conceptual artwork, storyboards, script excerpts, internal memos, packaging art, unseen prototypes, and abandoned concepts, along with new and exclusive interviews in the hardcover edition.
The art book will also be available in a deluxe edition, which includes an exclusive firehouse-inspired slipcase, a folio enclosing two acetate animation cel replicas, and a unique firehouse flagpole ribbon bookmark.
“As knowledgeable fans ourselves, Craig and I discovered through the interviews how little has been revealed about the whole story behind the series and toys,” Benjamin said. “There’s so much in this book for new and old fans alike, told through the eyes of those who were there.”
The Real Ghostbusters: A Visual History will be available in bookstores on July 8th, 2025 and in comic shops on July 9th, 2025.
