Comicon Advent Calendar 2024 Day 15– ‘Batman: Wayne Family Adventures’ Ep.72 & 73

The Bat-family is a fan favorite group of heroes. A big part recently of that is thanks to the Webtoons/ DC Comics collaboration Batman: Wayne Family Adventures. In today’s Comicon Advent Calendar entry, we get a seasonal glimpse at why.
Though the series, primarily by CRC Payne and Starbite, does feature a lot of superheroics, it’s a hit thanks to its slice of life stories with these fan favorite characters. In episodes 72 and 73 of the series which also features Geoniya Acuna, Suzi Blake, C.M. Cameron and Kielamel Sibal, we get a glimpse of the Wayne Family in one of those quieter moments. Though, when it comes to the Bat family, a simple snowball fight is anything but.
This isn’t just a fun slice of life story for our favorite family of superheroes. This story shows the understanding that Payne has of these characters, in some cases better than DC’s writers. She has Cassandra Cain text entirely in emoji. She has Bruce and Alfred paternally plotting against their brood, while leaning into Bruce’s “master planner” characterization. She even has Dick Grayson and Tim Drake expertly lead the kids into “battle” with a plan on the level of their father.
Starbite sells it all too, beginning to end. Their depiction of the family is perfect, capturing each character’s personality perfectly, with no costume in sight.
