Horror Classic ‘Re-Animator’ Returns To Celebrate Its 40th Anniversary In 4K

The cult horror classic Re-Animator is being re-animated again, this time in 4K.
In celebration of its 40th Anniversary, the film has been restored in 4K UHD and will be released in four separate versions from Ignite Films and Eagle Rock Pictures next year.
Based on the story by H.P. Lovecraft and directed by Stuart Gordon, the darkly comic, splatterrific 1985 film stars Jeffrey Combs as Herbert West, a brilliant young medical student who becomes obsessed with bringing the dead back to life — starting with a cat — by creating a serum that reanimates dead tissue. Things don’t go exactly as planned. It also stars Bruce Abbott, Barbara Crampton, David Gale, and Robert Sampson.

Fans can choose from four different home editions, all of which include both new and previously released special features. New extras includes include interviews with the cast and crew, featurettes, a look behind the scenes of Re-Animator: The Musical, a restoration demonstration, a 1977 documentary called The Organic Theater Company of Chicago featuring Gordon, and more.
Of course, there’s the 4K standard edition and the Blu-ray standard edition, both of which include a special slipcover. Meanwhile, the deluxe edition box set includes a 4K UHD/Blu-ray combo, a 150-page hardcover book featuring interviews with Combs, Crampton, writer Dennis Paoli, and composer Richard Band, plus collector’s art cards.
Finally, there’s the ultimate limited edition box set, which includes all of the above plus a “Dr. Hill” bobblehead, seen below.
But that’s not all! Some ultimate limited edition box sets will be randomly packed with an exclusive poster signed by Combs, Crampton, and Yuzna, plus a special Re-Animator gift pack full of gross goodies.
