Marvel Spotlights Black Heroes In New Black History Month Variants

Black History Month is right around the corner. As has become tradition, Marvel Comics had commissioned prominent Black artists to spotlight their biggest Black heroes and heroines.

Across eight covers, Ken Lashley, Alitha Martinez, Taurin Clarke, and Chris Allen spotlights some of the biggest heroes in comics, alongside some lesser known heroes. It’s always a lot of fun to see which characters get picked each year, and it’s a great mix this year.

The characters taking center stage are:

• Wakandan monarch and Avengers mainstay Black Panther by Martinez
• New Wakandan heroine Gold Tiger by Martinez
• An ultra-powerful, alternate future version of Luke Cage, Power Man, by Lashley
• Future film star Sam Wilson, Captain America, by Allen
• X-Man, Avenger and weather goddess Storm by Clarke
• Villain turned X-Men mainstay French by Lashley
• Brooklyn’s Spider-Man, Miles Morales by Clarke (not pictured)
• Young X-Man Temper by Allen
