The 2000 AD Thrill-Cast, your regular audio-visual look into all things 2000 AD hits the ground running into the new year with word that there’s three new 2000 AD podcasts taking its place.
The first is a weekly half-hour Wednesday pod, In Orbit Every Wednesday, hosted by 2000 AD’s brand manager (& Eisner-winning author of the brilliant I Am The Law) Michael Molcher and comics critic and creator of The Gutter Review, Chloe Maveal. It’s promising all the latest 2000 AD news with plenty of comics guests.
Then there’s The Deep Dive, doing just what it says on the tin, taking an in-depth look at both classic 2000 AD tales and the century-plus history of Brit comics to be found in the Treasury of British Comics archive. That’s happening monthly, second Saturday of the month, launching on 8 February. Hosted by 2000 AD Marketing Manager Steve Morris, the Deep Dive will bring on plenty of the best comics critics to talk about something from the long, long history of both 2000 AD and the Treasury of British Comics archive.
And finally, The 2000 AD Creator Tapes will do just what you think it will – big interviews with comics creators on the fourth Saturday of every month. That one launches 22 February. It’s a continuation of the long-form podcast interviews Mike Molcher’s been doing for the last decade with the greats of comics and all the exciting new names.
Each episode can be found everywhere you get your podcasts – Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and everywhere else that does the podcast thing. And you’ll also find them, with visuals, on YouTube.
In the press release, Michael Molcher had this to say – “Since 1977 2000 AD has been hitting newsagents’ shelves every week – it stands to reason its own podcast should be hitting your ears just as often. In Orbit Every Wednesday is going to be a weekly ode to our love of 2000 AD, as well as plenty else, and I’m very excited about the coming week. I’m delighted to be working with Chloe, who’s a fantastic host and comics critic, to bring more of what makes 2000 AD and the Judge Dredd Megazine so special to a wider audience, as well as having a lot of fun with our special guests.
“Over the past decade, the 2000 AD Thrill-Cast has earned a reputation for fascinating and in-depth interviews with many of 2000 AD’s greatest talents, and that will continue with The Creator Tapes and, with my colleague Steve alongside on The Deep Dive, it means the Thrill-Cast’s three new shows will be essential listening for new readers and Squaxx Dek Thargo alike.”
Seriously, the 2000 AD Thrill-Cast was a great place to find interviews with some of the medium’s best creators. Now there’s three 2000 AD Podcasts for your aural pleasure – go subscribe and download them right now.
