Commentary: Why You Should Read ‘A Better Place’ By Harry Bogosian

It’s 2025 and I’ve officially been actively reading indie comics for a decade. Throughout that time, I’ve seen various flavors of independent comics. While there are several contemporary series that are worth reading, I confess that I’ve been less enthusiastic with the comic offerings as of late. Too often, I keep asking myself, where’s the fun?
That is why A Better Place by Harry Bogosian is such a breath of fresh air. The series follows a brother and sister who are granted wishes by a mysterious entity … 100 years later, the older sister rules the world as an immortal god. There’s action, adventure, mystery, humor, and drama. The webcomic is accessible to a youth audience but never dumbs down the material or pulls any punches.
Bogosian is clearly a fan of Akira and channels that bombastic energy into the fights and epic world. The character designs are fun and iconic and no one is who they first appear to be. A Better Place is thrilling, thoughtful, and charming from start to finish. I hope more comic readers will discover Bogosian’s work, because this is how it’s done right.
