The Spawn Universe Expands This April With Two New Miniseries Featuring Medieval Spawn And Nyx

Todd McFarlane Productions is expanding its Spawn Universe once again this April with two new miniseries published by Image Comics, Black Ritual: The Book of NYX featuring Nyx, and Medieval Spawn featuring.. well, that one’s self-explanatory.

The first, Black Ritual: The Book of NYX, is a seven-part series written by Spawn Editor-in-Chief, Thomas Healy, with art by Nat Jones. In this series, you will learn more about Nyx, as the synopsis hints at:

“Known for her complex relationship with Al Simmons as an ally, enemy, and the first She-Spawn, Nyx’s story has been shrouded in mystery—until now. Readers will finally get to experience Nyx’s journey from her disappearance to her current reign as the Queen of Hell. This series promises to delve into her past, present, and future as she grapples with the consequences of her choices and seeks redemption by aiding The Lost Coven.”

Healy states his interest in Nyx, which led to him writing this book:

“Nyx, to me, has always been a character with more story to tell. She has mostly been a side character, even now, reigning as the Queen of Hell. So, when Nat approached us about doing a new book focused on her, I knew I wanted to be involved. The reader will see how her story continued after Spawn #184. Where she went, what she did, and how those ‘lost years’ have helped shape the current Spawn Universe.”

As for the second mini, Medieval Spawn, here’s its synopsis:
