Wizkids Releases Marvel ‘Heroclix Iconix: Captain America From The Ice’

Heroes … What are they? A quick search using the online dictionary defines them as a … submarine sandwich.
That’s, of course, not what I’m talking about here. The other definition “A person who is admired or idealized for courage, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities” is the hero I’m referencing in this particular context.
Heroes are important. I would go as far as to say the darker and more difficult the world seems, the more important heroes are. Be they to inspire or to help us find an escape, to teach us a lesson, or to give us hope, heroes are icons found in our modern myth that show us that there are ideals that can make us better, not for ourselves, but for those around us.
Captain America has always felt like that kind of hero for me. When you boil it down, strip away the propaganda and the random tangent stories like “Capwolf” or “Hydra Agent,” you get this guy, this kid from the Lower East Side of New York. He joins the army, gets pumped full of weird chemicals, and then runs head first at tanks with a bit of armor and a shield. He just wants to protect people.
Sure, the chemicals make him super strong and nearly immortal, but at the end of the day, he’s just a good guy. That’s his whole deal. He stands up for the little guy even when he gets frozen in a brick of ice for 66 years. He still stands up, dusts off the seaweed and salt water, and goes back to being that dude who runs at tanks with a shield, a bit of armor, and the desire to protect those who have a hard time protecting themselves.
My pals at WizKids have a new mini, the Marvel HeroClix Iconix: Captain America from the Ice. It is a delightful little box set of heroic mini might. Now, there have been many Captain Americas HeroClix over the years, but this one really lands for me and for superfans of the “Star spangled man with the plan.”
The set comes in a cool little window display box and you get 2 figures, one of Cap frozen, and one with Cap unfrozen, along with the HeroClix cards.
In a time where you may need a hero, even a little one you can sit at your desk or next to your bed to remind you that freedom and justice are for everyone, this is a great little mini to grab. You can score you very own at this link.
