DC Comics Reveals Dan Mora ‘Action Comics’ #1 Facsimile Edition Cover

by Tony Thornley

DC Comics is preparing for the biggest year for Superman in a very long time. As part of that celebration, superstar artist Dan Mora is creating some amazing art featuring the Man of Steel.

Late last year, Mora became the main artist on Superman. The artist made his mark on Clark Kent with his work on World’s Finest and Absolute Power. His addition absolutely elevated an already strong series, and it keeps getting better.

Newly revealed by DC today though, Mora has created a gorgeous homage cover based on one of the most iconic comic book covers of all — Action Comics #1 — for a facsimile edition of that landmark issue. Featuring the redesigned Superman costume worn by David Corenswet in the upcoming James Gunn-directed Superman film, it’s a fantastic image (and probably my new phone wallpaper). Releasing as a part of DC’s upcoming Superman Day on April 18th — celebrating the original release of Action Comics #1 on April 18th, 1938 — fans can pick up Mora’s cover in their local comic book store.

Check out the cover and watch for more about Superman Day soon!
