Daniel Warren Johnson’s ‘Wolverine’ #400 Cover Hints At A Blood-Soaked Tale

This April, Wolverine reaches a major milestone in comics, with 400 issues. To celebrate, one of the most celebrated writer-artists in comics joins the regular creative team for a special back up story.
Eisner award winning Daniel Warren Johnson has taken a break from big two comics for the last few years to write and draw the adventures of a certain group of robots in disguise. Joining Saladin Ahmed and Martin Coccolo for Wolverine #8, celebrating 400 issues of Wolverine’s ongoing adventures, Johnson takes control of the anniversary issue’s second half to tell a brutal tale of revenge.
In Ahmed and Coccolo’s lead story, Logan final comes face to face with the Adamantine, an ancient evil that has been plotting against him since the debut of this volume. But in Johnson’s back-up, we return to Logan’s past in Japan, as he suffers immense loss, and takes bloody revenge on those responsible.
“What’s better than Wolverine with claws? Wolverine with a katana,” Johnson teased of his backup story.
