Dynamite’s work with the ThunderCats continues to expand.
The company released a preview of the upcoming ThunderCats: Lost over the weekend, giving fans of the ‘Cats a peek at Scorpius, the new villain introduced in Lost and the latest original character added to the already impressive ThunderCats roster.
Lost, from writer Ed Brisson and artist Rapha Lobosco, focuses on Bengali, Pumyra, and Lynx-O — the three Thunderans who joined the ‘Cats later in the animated series. Marooned behind enemy lines with a few other Thunderan warriors, the five must figure out a way to get back to friendly space while avoiding a deadly hunter.
At the time the series was announced editor Nate Cosby said, “They’re not heroes. They won’t all survive. To them, all that matters is completing their secret mission.”
Scorpius, meanwhile, is described as a mercenary who works for the principal antagonist, Captain Shiner — but has a zeal for hunting ThunderCats — dogs their every step even as the team plans to bring the captain down and return to their ship. “Coming into ThunderCats: Lost, we were pretty confident with the new cast members that Rapha and I introduced in the first issue (Niko and Ligon), but wanted to make sure that our cats had a formidable foe,” Brisson said of the new character. “For certain, Captain Shiner and his army are a force to be reckoned with, but his right-hand, personal mercenary Scorpius is on a completely different level … A one-man army and hunter who knows the danger that cats present for his world and will stop at nothing to ensure that each and every cat is dead and buried. This murder machine is a threat unlike anything that the ThunderCats have faced before.”

ThunderCats: Lost #2 arrives in stores this April with FOC in comic shops this week.
