Image’s ‘Blood & Thunder’ #1 Gets A J. Scott Campbell Variant Cover
by Olly MacNamee
Image Comics new sci-fi series, Blood & Thunder, is getting a 1:50 incentive variant cover by artist J. Scott Campbell as one of several varinat covers for the debut issue. The series itself is by writer Benito Cereno (Invincible Presents: Atom Eve), artist E.J. Su (Tech Jacket), colourist MSassyK (Gotham Academy), letterer Rus Wooton (TRANSFORMERS), and co-creator Robert Kirkman (Invincible, The Walking Dead, Void Rivals).

“Set in a far future where Earth has integrated alien species into a new society, Blood & Thunder plays by a whole new set of rules…and a whole load of new crimes to solve.
Bounty hunter Akeldama “Blood” Bledsoe and her cantankerous talking gun, Thunder, are the best there is at bringing in the bad guys. However, when the galaxy’s most dangerous criminal breaks out of prison, Blood’s hunt delivers her down a path that will unlock secrets about her past, present, and future… and that’s when things get REALLY BAD.”
Campbell discusses the cover gig:
“It’s always a pleasure being asked by Robert to draw a cover for one of his new project. Having previously created images for The Walking Dead, The Infinite, and Oblivion Song, Blood & Thunder looks to be another fantastic opus. Akeldama was a blast to draw!”
