I love writing villains like Medusa Doom especially when I can mix in a bit of humor. The motivation behind her evil ways may surprise you (and might be more relatable than you expect!)
It was an honor to work alongside Holly G on this story. I’ve been a fan of Holly’s ever since her work on Sabrina the Teenage Witch and I love how she brings characters to life through her art—especially dark and edgy characters like Medusa Doom!
The script was a fabulous spy girls adventure written by Tania, and it was so much fun to work on. However, I’ll admit I felt a bit nervous since I usually lean more towards romance and comedy than superhero action. To help me navigate this challenge, I drew heavily from the incredible support of my husband, Jim [Balent]. His artwork has been an inspiration to me for many years! You’ll definitely see a blend of Betty and Veronica infused with that Black Widow energy alongside Jim’s Catwoman influence.
Betty and Veronica Friends Forever: Spy Girls goes on sale May 14th from Archie Comics. The FOC date is April 21st.
