Tom Sniegoski Returns For ‘Vampirella: Armageddon’

by Erik Amaya

In a post-apocalyptic world stands Sepulcher City. It is a haven for humanity’s survivors and the supernatural alike. And though evil festers on the horizon, it is the place Vampirella calls home and she’ll do whatever it takes to protect its residents from the coming darkness. According to Dynamite’s description for the upcoming Vampirella: Armageddon, “as a new age private investigator set up in the Menagerie, an area of the city designated for the more monstrous inhabitants, Vampirella and her newfound werewolf partner Dagwood think they are prepared for anything that might come their way. They’re wrong! When busloads of immigrants coming to walled city to make Sepulcher their home go missing, the raven-haired anti-heroine will have to find out how it connects to a decision from her past, and how it’s all linked to a turbulent war being waged in the depths of Hell.”

The series marks the return of long-time Vampi writer Tom Sniegoski to the character. “It’s like slipping into a nice warm sweater. Out of all the characters I’ve written, I seem to find her the most comfortable to write. I just get her — her, and the world in which she lives. It’s always a blast sitting down to come up with her next adventures,” he said in a statement.

Joining him for Armageddon is artist Kewber Baal and covers provided by the likes of Francesco Mattina, Lesley “Leirix” Li, Joseph Michael Linsner, Mark Spears, cosplayer Rachel Hollon.

As the company put it, the series is for “fans who have been following [Sniegoski’s] Vampi mythos for over 30 years and total newcomers ready to experience the longest running vampire characters in comic books. Longtime fans will be excited to see the re-introduction of some characters from the 1990s era of the character, while newer fans can jump right in.” But take a look at the covers and preview pages to judge for yourself.

Vampirella: Armageddon starts this July.
