Streaming And Screaming: ‘Peninsula’

After being surprised by the emotional depth of the zombie action thriller Train to Busan, I decided to check out the in-universe sequel Peninsula. It is to Train to Busan what Aliens is to the original Alien. The film jettisons nuanced grounded character development in a morally grey world in favor of over-the-top spectacle. And you know what? I’m here for it!
Peninsula is its own film with its own appeal. This is a heist movie in a zombie-infected city with a zombie gladiatorial pit and two zombie-hunting sisters who drive like they’re from The Fast and the Furious. There’s badassery for days! While the emotional beats don’t hit as hard as the first Train to Busan, Peninsula is still a one of a kind spectacle that I thoroughly enjoyed.
Peninsula is now streaming on Netflix.
