After successfully publishing Tripwire Magazine for decades now, Joel Meadows and everyone at Tripwire have been dipping their toes into comics publishing with two initial Sherlock Holmes graphic novels – Sherlock Holmes And The Empire Builders – plus a prose novella, Sherlock Holmes: Down and Out in London, plus their Face to Face photo book of many famous comic writers and artists. But now they’re planning on publishing their first art book, and they’ve picked a perfect subject in George Pratt, one of the finest of artists.
Into White: George Pratt is the first of a planned series of ‘Art Of’ books from Tripwire. It’s currently doing great business on Kickstarter, having destroyed its initial funding goal almost immediately.

Here’s what Tripwire have to say about it…
“Pratt is an artist and illustrator who once drew extensively in comics in the 1990s but for a number of reasons, he has moved on to gallery work and to teach at the Ringling College of Art and Design in Sarasota in Florida. He has built up an incredible body of work that includes portraiture, landscapes, figure work and also some exceptional comic work. Pratt is an artist who transcends a number of different genres and disciplines so we felt he would be the perfect subject for our debut art of book. Clocking in at 200 pages, this 9 x 12 inch hardcover with a paperback version available, this campaign offers a range of exclusive perks like unique brush and pen and ink drawings, limited prints, as well as signed plated editions of the hardcover. Also George will be designing the book and is an artist with a real flair for design.
He has attracted prominent fans over the years too as the late great illustrator Mark English had this to say about him: “My friend, George Pratt, has it all. He has craftsmanship, draftsmanship, plus the need and the motivation to be an artist. That’s what it takes. I think a serious artist is always searching for something, but rarely knows what. That “something” can’t be found by just thinking, though. It’s found with exploration and hard work. George is constantly drawing, painting, observing, experimenting and reaching further which is what makes him exceptional. I’m always excited to see what new ground he is breaking.” “Into White” marks a new era for Tripwire and we are excited to share this with our supporters.”

The 200 page, 9×12 lavish hardcover is designed by Pratt and will also be available in softcover – although with a book like this, you really do want that hardcover edition for your shelves. The Kickstarter comes with a fair number of extras and add-ons, including unique brush and pen and ink drawings, limited prints, as well as signed plated editions of the hardcover.
