Steve Rogers Returns To The Spotlight In July’s ‘Captain America’ #1 Covers

He’s a comics icon, and in July, Steve Rogers returns in the pages of his own series in Captain America #1. To get fans excited for the release, Marvel has released the full range of variant covers for the debut issue.
Coming from superstars Chip Zdarsky and Valerio Schiti, Captain America will reveal the details of Steve’s first mission out of the ice, as Cap comes face to face with a young dictator- Victor Von Doom! Following this shocking arc, the series will shift back to the present-day where Captain America will deal with a new threat tied to this earlier secret conflict.
Main covers come from acclaimed artist Ben Harvey with variant covers from series artist Schiti (who also contributes a Design Variant Cover showcasing Steve’s new suit) along with superstar artists Frank Miller, and Pablo Villalobos. Zdarsky makes a rare cover appearance while delivering a bold variant cover of his own.
In addition, a Hidden Gem cover features John Romita Sr.’s iconic artwork from Marvel’s 1976 Bicentennial Calendar as well as Luciano Vecchio’s recreation of the classic art in a 250th Homage Variant Cover. A Hidden Gem variant cover by John Romita Jr. will also be available and Nick Bradshaw takes inspiration from a bygone era with one of the month’s eye-catching Retrovision Covers. And the latest Marvel Rivals Variant Cover by NetEase Games spotlights artwork of Captain America’s design from the hit game.
“I’m having a blast,” Zdarsky told Newsarama in a recent interview. “I’ve got the same feeling as I did when I started Daredevil, where each issue felt incredibly special, so I hope people feel the same way when they finally get to read it. Our first arc may be set in the past but it’s going to reveal some huge things that will affect the book going forward.”
Captain America #1 will be out in July from Marvel Comics.
