Streaming And Screaming: ‘Guns Akimbo’

Daniel Radcliffe plays Miles, a nerdy video game developer, who gets trapped in a game of death while having guns bolted to his hands. Miles is being hunted by the trigger-happy killer Nix (Samara Weaving) who dresses like Milkie Way from WARGASM. So many aspects of this film feel like they were made for my tastes specifically.
Guns Akimbo blends the stylized video game elements of Scott Pilgrim with the over-the-top gore of Kickass. Weaving has the makings of a B-movie Queen and delivers just the right amount of camp to her performance. I also appreciated that Miles’ apartment is filled with indie comic memorabilia — I spotted Usagi Yojimbo and possibly Shaolin Cowboy in the background. I’m always on the hunt for A-grade B-movies and Guns Akimbo really hit the spot!
