Trick Or Treat In Style With New Marvel Comics Retro Halloween Mask Covers

by Tony Thornley

July is practically over, and that means school starts in just a few weeks, and then it’s pretty much Halloween. And to celebrate this year, Marvel Comics is releasing fifteen new Halloween mask variant covers all through October.

Ranging through fifteen issues from fourteen series, these covers should take a certain generation of readers back to their childhoods. The masks from artist James Kerigan evoke the molded plastic masks that came with vinyl costumes from Halloween nights of the 1970’s and 1980’s. I know I had at least one costume like it myself (I think it was He-Man), so it’s a fun memory for me.

“Working on this cover series was a blast because it brought together two things I love deeply: Marvel and Halloween,” Kerigan said. “There’s a nostalgic charm to the Halloween decorations of the 70’s, especially those vacu-form costume masks, which served as inspiration for this project. It was a joy to bring that retro, slightly spooky charm to life in a way that celebrates both the season and the art!”

Check out all fifteen covers and watch for your favorites in October from Marvel Comics.
