THQ Nordic Announces ‘Darksiders 4’ With A Teaser Trailer At The THQ Showcase

by Anton Kromoff

Welcome to the table,

Check this out…

The Darksiders games are my favorite video games of all time, and while I think there were a few stumbles in game design for Darksiders 3 purely on world design, not story, the characters are all amazing. I did not expect we would get any more additions to this story.

So when I looked at my laptop and saw the Darksiders 4 trailer during THQ Showcase, I audibly gasped. The dialog was from the original Darksiders main character was War, whom I lovingly describe as my Link or Mario as he is my favorite video game protagonist of all time.

If you have played the clip above, you have heard War, who wields Chaoseater — a sword I reference often as the best fantasy weapon of all time — being told by Uriel that Heaven and Hell are going to hunt him until he is destroyed. She, an angel who serves as the leader of the Hellguard after Abaddon’s alleged death during the apocalypse that was kicked off in the prolong of Darksiders, then asks him if he is going to fight this war alone.

To which War responds “No, not alone” as he breaks the final seal, summoning his three brethren, the other horsemen of the apocalypse: Death, Fury, and Strife.

It’s one of the most stone-cold and brilliantly delivered lines in all of video games. Hell, in my humble opinion, it’s one of my favorite lines in all of media, and Liam O’Brien, yes, the brilliant voice actor and player in the world-famous Critical Roll, executes it flawlessly.

Now, this trailer does not show us a whole lot we have not seen before. We get to hear War deliver the line to Uriel. We get to see the four riders and their mounts, and we get the title of the game. We also get those little logos at the bottom of the screen telling us that the game will be playable on Xbox Series X and S, PS5, and PC.

What I can tell you though: I am so locked in and will be checking for updates daily, if not hourly from now until I have the game in my hand because this was not something I was expecting, and I love these games so much that I will have trouble focusing until I get to sink in and play this.

Until next time, I seriously love this world and the setting so much, I am beyond excited right now!
