‘One Piece’ Gets A New Anime Opening And Live Action Season 2 Trailer

Oh man, that was fun! I’m a big fan of One Piece. I started watching it a few years back as background noise while I worked and got hopelessly hooked on the story of a kid with stretchy powers and his iconic straw hat going on a grand adventure in search of the fabled One Piece. The story of found family and anti-establishment, fused with layered storytelling and an emotionally rich plot, has been something I have enjoyed no less than nine times up and to this point.
I normally don’t go for “goofy” loud and screaming anime. I prefer things that stay pretty grounded like Psycho-Pass, Cowboy Bebop, Unlimited Blade Works, and Gundam: Iron Blooded Orphans. One Piece, with all its cartoon antics, still works for me, though, because the story is so well crafted and I can’t help but root for the little rubber boy and his misfit crew of Straw Hats.

There is a ton to unpack, and iconic characters, including Smoker, Miss All Sunday AKA The Devil Child AKA Nico Robin, a future member of the Straw Hat crew, and Brogy the giant. What I am most stoked about, though, is the giant whale Laboon, whom Luffy is going to paint the Straw Hat Jolly Roger on, and who we will eventually find out is connected to another future member of the crew, Soul King Brook.
