‘Orwell 2+2=5’ And How George Orwell Predicted The Current War On Truth

Directed by Raoul Peck, Orwell 2+2=5 is a documentary film about writer George Orwell (Animal Farm, 1984) and his fiction’s overlap with our current reality. The trailer has been age restricted since it debuted on YouTube and I suspect that there is a strong corporate push to bury this film. Orwell 2+2=5 is a direct confrontation with the war on truth and how “alternative facts” have lead to contemporary fascism. This film comes at time when advances in generative AI are eroding people’s consensus reality.

I would also recommend reading the harrowing graphic novel adaption of 1984 by Fido Nesti and Animal Pound by Peter Gross and Tom King. It not pleasant to realize that real life has parallels to sci-fi dystopias. However, its important to remember that Orwell’s writing was inspired by real life events. The best thing we can do in uncertain times is arm ourselves with knowledge and protect what we know to be true.
