The Inhumans Return In Marvel’s ‘Imperial’ #4 First Look

by Tony Thornley

After a push into prominence through the 2010s, Marvel’s Inhumans retreated to the shadows following the events of 2018’s Death of the Inhumans. In October, the Inhuman royal family returns, front and center, to reclaim what’s rightfully theirs in Imperial #4.

Much like Annihilation nearly 20 years ago, Imperial has completely changed Marvel’s cosmic landscape. The Jonathan Hickman-Iban Coello-Federico Vincentini led event has thrust some of Earth’s greatest heroes into the middle of the galactic stage, while changing the power dynamics of these star empires forever. And right in the middle of it has been a mysterious power broker, manipulating the Grandmaster into making all of these things happen. In the final pages of Imperial #3, readers were shocked to see that it was none other than Maximus the Mad, and he was acting in concert with his brother — Black Bolt, king of the Inhumans!

Now, in a new preview from Marvel for October 29th’s conclusion to the event, Black Bolt and Maximus are front and center. Their goal- to reclaim what they believe is rightfully theirs. And honestly, they have a better claim than many.

As an added bonus, Marvel has also released the first pages from Nova: Centurion from Jed MacKay and Álvaro López, the first spin-off of the event, and our first glance into the new galactic order.

Check out both previews and watch for more about the galaxy after Imperial soon!
