NYCC 2025: ‘Death Spiral’ Crossover Brings Spider-Man, Venom And Carnage Face To Face With A Killer

Spider-Man, Venom, and Carnage are a twisted family. In April, a new super-powered killer will draw them together in a fight for survival in the new crossover Death Spiral announced at New York Comic Con this week.
Teaming up comics heavyweights Joe Kelly, Al Ewing, Charles Soule, Ed McGuinness, Carlos Gomez and Jesus Saiz, the crossover will see Peter Parker, Mary-Jane Watson and Eddie Brock teaming up against a terrifying new threat. Starting with Spider-Man/Venom: Death Spiral #1 in April, the story will run through Amazing Spider-Man #23-27 and Venom #255-257.
Peter Parker is no stranger to monsters. But when the new villain Torment begins targeting him, and those he loves, he’s in over his head. The fight against Torment will not just pull Spider-Man, Venom and Carnage together, but not everyone will survive!
“One of the wildest times in Spider and Symbiote history revs into high gear with this killer crossover!” Says Spider-Editor Nick Lowe. “Not only will readers get to witness Peter Parker learn that his long time love Mary Jane Watson is bonded with one of his greatest nemeses, but both learn that Eddie Brock has paired with the baddest symbiote ever, Carnage. They’ll all be even more horrified when they face a scarier villain—TORMENT! No one is safe.”
“Spider-Man, Venom, Carnage, Mary Jane—they’re essentially a weird family unit, interconnected with gigantic amounts of history together,” Soule explained at the panel. “There’s an engine there, there’s a lot of emotional energy to there to break apart.”
“And then we needed a serial killer,” Kelly added.
Spider-Man doesn’t tell enough horror stories, and this one sounds intense. Looking at the design for Torment is creepy on its own. The spiral design recalls Knull though, which makes him even scarier. Then add the new dynamics of the symbiotes into the equation, this looks like a crazy one. The Spider-Line is operating at a creative high point it hasn’t seen in years, so I hope it keeps up here.
