The X-Men Face The Shadows of Tomorrow: Rounding Up Marvel Comics’ NYCC 2025 News (Part Two)

Another year of New York Comic Con has come and gone. It’s a big year for announcements, and with it all over it’s time for the second part of our look at Marvel Comics’ biggest announcements from the convention.

Longtime Marvel editor Tom Brevoort led the X-Men panel revealing the aftermath of the currently running Age of Revelation, keeping with the long standing “phases” tradition started with the Krakoa era. This new phase, called Shadows of Tomorrow, will see the X-Men coming together more, and a general sense of unity among mutantkind.

To go with it, Brevoort, Marvel Editor in Chief C.B. Cebulski, and creators Jed MacKay, Ryan Stegman, Benjamin Percy, Eve Ewing, and Ashley Allen announced what’s next. Ten titles, some new, some returning, will lead the line, with more promised to come.

First of all, X-Men, Uncanny X-Men, and Wolverine (original flavor) will resume their current volumes. Tony Daniel will be joining MacKay on X-Men for two issues of Age of Revelation epilogue, Gail Simone and David Marquez returning to the hit villain Mutina in Uncanny and Saladin Ahmed and Martín Cóccolo kicking off a spy-flavored epic in Wolverine co-starring Silver Sable. Nice to see these are continuations and not relaunching with new #1’s for the bump.

As for new series, Cyclops, Rogue and Magik & Colossus will launch as new limited series. Cyclops from Alex Paknadel and Roge Antonio sees Scott Summers in the Alaskan Wilderness without his visor, and hunted by the Reavers. Erica Schultz moves from Laura Kinney to Rogue alongside Luigi Zagaria as Rogue’s past rears its head. And the Magik creative team of Ashley Allen and German Peralta team up the Rasputin siblings to fight monsters from Russian folklore in Magik & Colossus. Hopefully that last one indicates a similar approach to Illyana Rasputin’s adventures as Marvel has taken with another supernatural hero, Scarlet Witch.

And on the new ongoing series front, Storm: Earth’s Mightiest Mutant relaunches Ororo Munroe’s hit series, and will be joined by two new team books and a solo series for a very familiar face. Storm will continue Murewa Ayodele’s Storm epic and he’ll be joined by artist Federica Mancin. Meanwhile Tim Seeley and Michael Sta. Maria launch Inglorious X-Force, putting Cable back in the lead of the team with Angel, Boom Boom and Hellverine, and Jody Houser and Jacopo Camagni put Wolverine and Scout in charge of a team of damaged and traumatized young mutants in Generation X-23 (I see what they did there). Rounding out the announcements if Wade Wilson: Deadpool from Benjamin Percy and Geoff Shaw, promising a darker and more brutal take on the Merc with a Mouth.

The panel also teased that there’s more to come, including a relaunch of some sort of Exceptional X-Men from Ewing, so watch for that news as well as more from the X-Men very soon.
