Zoop Games Brings ‘Hack/Slash’ Back For Another Slice At The Action

by Brendan M. Allen

The long running comic book series Hack/Slash is coming back to Kickstarter, but this time … fans will do the slashing. Zoop Games has struck a licensing deal with Hack/Slash creator Tim Seeley to turn the popular horror comic property into an expandable, deck building card game that adapts some of the series’ most thrilling stories. The game launched its second edition on Kickstarter this week.

Created in 2004, Hack/Slash has now corrupted the minds of thousands upon thousands of readers, horror fans, aspiring comic book creators, cosplayers, and people just looking for a good time.

In the game, fan-favorite “Slasher” villains from the series’ 20 year history terrorize 1-6 players in a pulse-pounding face-off that recreates key events from the comics. Players expand heroes Cassie and Vlad’s defenses by building up their decks with powerful attacks, combos, and special moves. The core game comes with an offering of four villainous Slashers from the Hack/Slash universe, with more expansions and Slashers available as add-ons.

Working closely with Seeley in development and execution, Zoop wants fans to know the game and its mechanics stay true to the lore of the established Hack/Slash universe.

Backer rewards kick in at the $40 level ($35 Early Bird) for the core game. Upgrades come at higher tiers, including an exclusive neoprene play mat, a character standee bundle, expansion packs, uncut card sheets, and more. As of this writing, the campaign has already hit 150% of its funding goal of $10,000. Check it out at this link
