‘Dune: Prophecy’ Announces Season 2 Production; Adds Three To Cast

The Sleeper has stopped hitting the snooze button.
HBO Max announced Tuesday that the second season of Dune: Prophecy has begun production. The program. set 10,000 years before the film series, centers on the early days of the Bene Gesserit sisterhood as the forces that will eventually produce Paul Atriedes (Timothée Chalamet) begin their long games. The cast includes Emily Watson, Olivia Williams, Travis Fimmel, Jodhi May, Sarah-Sofie Boussnina, Josh Heuston, Chloe Lea, Jade Anouka, Faoileann Cunningham, Edward Davis, Aoife Hinds, Chris Mason, Shalom Brune-Franklin, Jessica Barden, Emma Canning, Yerin Ha, Barbara Marten, and Tessa Bonham Jones.
That group returns for the second season. But the streamer also announced three additions to the cast starting with Rome and Torchwood‘s Indira Varma. Considering she’s made appearances in so many long-running properties, it totally makes sense to bring her to the Dune Imperium. Other new additions include Ashley Walters and Tom Hollander.
Alison Schapker is the showrunner with practically everyone involved with the modern Dune listed as executive producers or producers. This includes film series co-writer Jon Spaihts, Brian Herbert — whose Sisterhood of Dune provided inspiration for the series — and co-producer Kevin J. Anderson, who co-wrote Sisterhood with Herbert.
The eight-episode second season is shooting in Hungary, Jordan, and Spain, but it is still unclear when it will debut on the service.
