Streaming And Screaming: ‘Tatsuki Fujimoto 17-26’

It’s no exaggeration to say that Tatsuki Fujimoto is a manga wunderkind. Not only did Fujimoto create the global success of Chainsaw Man and Look Back, but he also appears to have a “Midas touch” for fellow manga creators. Several of his former assistants have gone on to create their own successful manga, such as Tatsuya Endo (Spy x Family), Yuji Kaku (Hell’s Paradise: Jigokuraku), Yukinobu Tatsu (Dandadan), and Toru Kuramori (Centuria).
Tatsuki Fujimoto 17-26 is an adaptation of the manga one-shots created during his formative years. Having read the manga, I was really inspired by how he was able to let his personality shine through in even his roughest work. Fujimoto isn’t a perfect creator and his stories can be polarizing for many readers. However, I believe that his willingness to experiment — even at the risk of alienating some audiences — is what makes his work resonate. Nothing has captured the Millennial and Gen Z psyche quite like Tatsuki Fujimoto.
