Hideo Kojima has confirmed a Death Stranding — Death Stranding: Isolations — anime for Disney+, coming in 2027. Surprisingly, this is a different project from the already announced film, Death Stranding: Mosquito. Instead, this is aiming to be a full animated series, telling a completely different story from the video games.
So far, the confirmed team includes Kojima as executive producer, Takayuki Sano (Sword Art Online: Ordinal Scale) as director, and Illya Kuvshinov as the character designer, while E&H production handles the animation.
Given Death Stranding is already one of the most successful new IPs of the decade, the most surprising thing is waiting until the second game launched before expanding the universe. The real question: whether the exclusive partnership with Disney+ will work for the series or hold it back like it has several other anime.
