Marvel Comics’ Stormbreakers Go Back To The ’90s With Trading Card Variants

by Tony Thornley

Marvel Comics’ Stormbreakers are some of today’s best and brightest stars in comic art. In January though, they’re going back to the 1990s for the heyday of trading cards with new trading card variant covers.

In honor of Shadows of Tomorrow, the next phase of the current X-Men storytelling era, the Stormbreakers are honoring the mutant juggernauts of trading cards. Over all of January’s X-Men titles, the artists will be creating new trading card style covers featuring the modern designs of the mighty mutants.

The current class of Marvel’s Stormbreakers include Alessandro Cappuccio (Ultimate Wolverine), Netho Diaz (X-Men), Simone Di Meo (X-Men of Apocalypse), Juan Frigeri (Ultimates), Gurihiru (Jeff the Land Shark), Jonas Scharf (Ultimate Spider-Man: Incursion, Ultimate Endgame), Geoff Shaw (Red Hulk, Wade Wilson: Deadpool), and Luciano Vecchio (Uncanny X-Men).

Check out all eight covers and watch for your favorites on January’s X-Men titles from Marvel Covers.
