Qui-Gon regains consciousness, and sets about solving the mystery of Corlis Rath.

• Rig Nema says she had Qui-Gon under “twilight sedation,” which is actually a real-world medical thing and not a special kind of Jedi meditation or something.
• The flashbacks involving Qui-Gon as a Padawan traveling with his master Dooku are kind of funny because young man Padawan Qui-Gon still looks like an old man.

• Jocasta Nu is the Jedi Librarian seen in Attack of the Clones.
• She mentions Clawdites as a shapeshifting species; bounty hunter Zam Wessel (also from Attack of the Clones) was a Clawdite.
• When Gui-Gon is preparing to depart Coruscant on his own via a Delta-7 Aethersprite, we can see him packing something into, essentially, the ship’s trunk, located behind the seat. This is the first time I’ve seen that used, which answers the question of where Jedi can keep extra gear on those ships.
• We first heard Yoda say, “failure is the greatest teacher” (actually, “the greatest teacher, failure is”) is The Last Jedi; apparently it was something he was saying all the way back in the Prequel Era.

I haven’t heard for sure if the series is ending with issue #10, but there’s certainly a feeling of building to an ending in this issue, as the closest thing this book has to a running plotline draws ever closer to resolution. It’s fun seeing the Dooku/Qui-Gon dynamic in action, but jury is still out as far as where all this is going.

Tales From The Bookshelf

Two trade paperback releases this week. The Sequel Trilogy Graphic Novel collection gathers up the three anime-inspired adaptations of the Sequel Trilogy films first published by IDW back when it held the All-Ages license for Star Wars book.

Hyperspace Stories – The Bad Batch: Ghost Agents collects the Clone Wars-set miniseries featuring everyone’s favorite superpowered/TMNT analog clones. Both from Dark Horse.

Cover of the Week

Not a lot of choices this week, and the Jedi Knights variants are all pretty meh. I’ll give this one to Musabekov’s main cover.
