HBO Max 2026 Teaser Highlights ‘Lanterns’, ‘A Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms’, And More
by Erik Amaya
While there is still half-a-month left in the year, HBO Max is already looking forward to 2026 and that means a sizzle reel of their upcoming series. For genre fans like us, the video offers new looks at Lanterns, A Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms, and other shows in fantastical realms.
There’s also non-genre stuff like Euphoria and The Pitt in the new year, but we’ll be honest — we’re looking forward to Lanterns the most out of the shows teased. The program stars Kyle Chandler and Aaron Pierre as Green Lanterns Hal Jordan and John Stewart. The pair are investigating a murder. Reports suggest the victim is the original GL, Alan Scott, but it is unclear if that is truly the case. If it is, though, it speaks to Lanterns long development cycle, which included a version called Green Lantern featuring Scott and Guy Gardner in their best known time periods: the 1940s and ’80s. Guy, of course, exists in this new version (embodied by Nathan Fillion), who may also make an appearance during Lanterns‘ eight-episode run.
A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, despite our ambivalence toward Westeros since House of the Dragon‘s Season 1 finale, looks fun. And that’s saying something considering how unfun the world of Ice and Fire has been since Game of Thrones‘ final season. Yeah, we’ll admit it, House of the Dragon just isn’t a show we want to watch, but Knight seems to be solving a lot of our problems with HotD. Hopefully, it will remind us why Westeros was so compelling once upon a time.
Other genre shows include HotD‘s third season, a second year for Dune: Prophecy — a show we’ve slept on since hearing word that it shared a lot in common with HotD. But maybe we’ll give it a try since Dune is a touchstone work around the Comicon virtual office.
Even with our negative thoughts toward House of the Dragon, genre feels heavily represented by HBO Max in 2026 and that’s something worth celebrating.
