The Game Awards turned out to be a big night for Tomb Raider fans, as not one, but two different games were announced.
First, Amazon Games and Crystal Dynamics announced Tomb Raider: Catalyst, a new game in the Tomb Raider timeline that takes place after the events of the Legend trilogy from the 2000s.
In development since 2022, Tomb Raider: Catalyst takes Lara Croft (played by actress Alix Wilton Regan) to northern India in the aftermath of a catacylsm that reveals some long-hidden architecture. The sudden discovery brings Lara into conflict with rival treasure hunters, and promises plenty of action, platforming and puzzle-solving that fans of classic Lara have been asking for.
Tomb Raider: Catalyst is releasing for Xbox Series, PlayStation 5, and Steam in 2027. However, that’s not all.
Alongside a new game comes Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis from Crystal Dynamics and Flying Wild Hog. Legacy of Atlantis is being described as a re-imagining of the original Tomb Raider game from 1996.
In search for the pieces of the Scion, Lara Croft travels across the globe, confronting the impossible platforming challenges the game is known for. Oh, and the dinosaurs are back.
Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis is launching for Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series in 2026.
