Ario Anindito Reveals Tough New Takes On Marvel Comics Icons In Hells Kitchen Variants

What would happen if the rest of the Marvel Universe embraced the brutal methods of Frank Castle? In a new series of February variant covers, Marvel Comics fans at least get a glimpse of what it would be like.
Coming from superstar artist Ario Anindito, Marvel takes advantage of The Punisher’s return to an ongoing series of his own to show fans what a darker, more brutal Marvel universe might be like. In a series of ten Hell’s Kitchen covers, Anindito creates dark new designs of some of Marvel’s most iconic heroes, inspired directly by the Punisher (and his new series from Benjamin Percy and Jose Luis Soares).
“I was really excited and honored when Marvel asked me to do the Hell’s Kitchen cover program!” Anindito shared. “It’s such a cool chance to dive deeper into the characters and give them a darker vibe, designing a gritty look and adding a badass tactical goth-rocker twist. These characters are already iconic, so it’s definitely a challenge, but also really fun to do. I drew inspirations from re-reading the Punisher MAX series and re-watching the ’98 Blade movie. Let’s just say these Hell’s Kitchen versions are the last ones you’d want to mess with!”
