Comicon’s Best Animated Films Of 2025

As we approach a new year, it’s the perfect time to celebrate the amazing animation we’ve received in 2025. And has become Comicon custom, out own Tito W. James takes a look at what he considered to be the best of animated films in the year that was. Take a look below:

Arco

Despite having a limited theatrical release, the reception to Arco has been universally positive. The fiilm is a sci-fi adventure with ecological themes directed by Ugo Bienvenu (System Preference), produced by Natalie Portman, and animated by Remembers Productions. I’ve been shouting at the top of my lungs that French Animation is avant garde — literally — and deserves a passionate fandom as large as the anime community. Creature Commandos, Arcane, and Primal were all animated by French animation studios. More viewers should check out Arco when it becomes available on digital. 

Ne Zha 2

Ne Zah 2 centers on a demon-born boy completing a series of challenges to become an immortal, uncovering a conspiracy which threatens the heavens in the process. The film punches above its weight and its action scenes outclass most fantasy blockbusters. The success of the film proves there is a hungry audience for action-fantasy animated feature films. It’s easy to root for Ne Zha (Yanting Lü) pissing off the gods because he’s the world’s most adorable rage-ball. If you love anime but are new to Chinese animation, then Ne Zha 2 is a great place to start.

KPop Demon Hunters

No one would have expected KPop Demon Hunters to morph into the most enjoyed film of 2025. It became a phenomenon because Rumi’s (Arden Cho) inner journey toward self-acceptance hits on multiple emotional levels. The film is alive with stylish fight sequences, unique comedy, and banger original songs. This is a case of a film becoming popular because people love it rather than people loving it just because it’s popular. KPop Demon Hunters makes a bold case for investing in original animation. Creativity isn’t dead, we’re just getting started!
