SEGA Provides An In-Depth Look At ‘Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties’

It feels like SEGA and RGG Studios should only be able to show off so much of their upcoming game, Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties. However, they’ve put together an extensive Game Overview trailer ahead of the title’s release later this year.

The new preview starts out with a focus on Kiryu’s new life at Morning Glory, where he works to become the World’s Best Dad. Of course, it can’t be all wholesome orphan stuff, so they’ve also added the Bad Boy Dragon side content, where Kiryu gets to form the ultimate all-girl biker squad and lead them into battle against other biker gangs in Okinawa. The game’s combat isn’t unchanged either, as they’ve given Kiryu a new martial arts, Ryukyu Style, based off real Okinawan fighting styles.

On the Dark Ties side of things, the trailer breaks down the game’s two modes: Kanda Damage Control and Hell’s Arena. The Kanda Damage Control sees Mine complete missions and substories to improve their group’s standing in the city. Elsewhere, Hell’s Arena focuses entirely on battle, including Survival Hell Dungeons pitting Mine against multiple foes at once.

Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties marks the next “remake” of the main franchise, however it’s already been implied that this one is more than just an ordinary remake. RGG Studio director Masayoshi Yokoyama has gone on record to say this title contains major hints on where Like A Dragon‘s story direction is headed. Whether this means they plan on reviving a certain character or something else entirely is as-yet unknown, but we’re also probably not too far off from Like A Dragon 9 at this point, as it has to be the next game following Stranger Than Heaven, whenever that comes out.

For now, Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties launches on February 12th for PlayStation, Xbox consoles, and Steam.
