We’ll end this week with two greats of Euro comics, Pierre Christin and Jean-Claude Mézières. Both much missed. The co-creators of Valerian and Laureline, an epic sci-fi tale, hugely influential throughout comics and into the wider culture, not least with its obvious influence on a certain George Lucas and a little project he put together called Star something. Highly recommended you have a read of V&L, with the whole saga available from Cinebook in English.

I just happened to see a little of Mézières’s artwork the other day, and, predictably, that led me into a deep dive into re-reading the books and then having to throw up a little of his artwork from the series. Sadly, Christin passed in 2024 and Mézières passed back in 2022, and I did a whole Art For Art’s Sake in celebration of his art here. But, looking at his work again this week, it’s just a staggeringly beautiful thing, one that never fails to take my breath away, and what the hell, let’s have a look at more of his work here…
