Solomon Kane was unironically my favorite film in college. I love low-budget, dark period piece action adventure films. I feel that there were really good films being made in the 2010s that flew under the radar because they didn’t have the A24 logo slapped on them.
I think what struck me about Solomon Kane was the blend of horror and fantasy, which I’d never seen before as a Millennial raised on Harry Potter and Narnia. The character of Solomon Kane was created by Robert E. Howard best known for Conan The Barbarian. The film is a dark fantasy masterclass that punches well above its weight and deserves a loyal cult following.
